Tasmanian Blackwood, Pair of A Grade Slabs  1083-6-1 & 1083-7-1 W350 W700 T40 L1.8 PG1S ELE8

Unique Tasimainian Blackwood slab set, great heartwood, deep rich colour, crown cut, mirror matched slabs. These slabs milled 20 years ago, no borer was attacking wood in the yard at the time. There was a period where illness paused business activities for several years, on returning,  borer had found the sapwood. The sapwood of this historic Blackwood ravaged, peppered, the sapwood on these slabs is holy in the extreme, 90% consumed, the borer is no longer present, nothing left but sound heartwood. Reminds me of the saying "the only thing holding the building up is the borer hold hands". The heartwood is sound no borer. These slabs have been run through the kiln drying process, resawn and treated with turps and ripcord to ensure no further borer activity. This holy sapwood provides a challenge, an opportunity for creative solutions, possibly an epoxy table. Possibly set-to with a  heavy wire brush equipped grinder, to expose a pure natural heartwood live edge. Slabs presently stored, standing quietly in a drystore.

This wood is Kiln Conditioned or Kiln Dry (KD), suitable for most applications where the wood is to be used for inside, dwellings, offices or other enclosed spaces which are generally drier and warmer than outside spaces. Suitable and ready to use inside, for furniture, built in joinery, mantels and other finished inside wooden works.
